Are you like me? Where you have a coupon or get an e.mail discount code and you immediately need to go check it out to make sure it is worthwhile? Groupon does not help to feed this impulse either. I had bought a Groupon about a year ago to this lovely local boutique that I love called Rowe. This store has so much pretty in it but unfortunately it is nearly all out of my price range or it simply does not look good on my body. Typically when I do pick something up from there it ends up being jewelry. My Groupon was $50 for $100 worth of non-sale items. I tried in vain to find some clothing but nothing really struck my fancy. I did however find these gems from the Jewelry.
I got this Gold vampire teeth necklace which I thought was charming and quirky. I'm not a huge vampire fan but I do like quirky things. Also these two Nylon Method Rings were on Sale for $8.00 a pop so how could I not get them? I had heard about Nylon Method previously through my friend Brook. She knows one of the people that make them. I had wanted one and they aren't going to kill you in price but just one of those things I never got around to. I heard that they were also local to Columbus which intrigued me more. Every since that Laser Cutting class at the Idea Foundry I've been keeping my eyes open to new technology for jewelry.
Close up you can see the details on the teeth which are fun. Looks like they had a mold of someone's actual teeth and then sculpted out the fangs before putting it into the final mold.
This is the Snowflake ring which looks really delicate but it is pretty resilient. The rings also fit about half a size smaller then they say.
This is one they no longer have on their website but it is smaller and more delicate looking. It looks like it would be hard but this one will bend around and not lose it's shape or design. It is also so light it feels almost like I am not even wearing anything.
This is the original packaging that the rings came in which I thought was really neat and unique. I can see why it didn't really sell at Rowe, with the packaging it has a much more industrial feel to it and I think people who are into new technology and art are the ones that will appreciate this product much more then the fashion forward women that usually shop Rowe.

As the World Turns
Whilst the rest of the world is obsessed with the going ons for NYC Fashion week I am patiently awaiting the publications to follow. I find hardly any time to keep a firm grasp on what is in style and what is not. Sadly I am most involved with the consumer ridden publication that is "Lucky" I feel it is the ultimate trickle down with a pinch of straight off the runway fashions.
Aside from my patience in Fashion coverage I am working dilligently on new items for the coming fall craft shows and how I should set my display. I am this odd wonder at the shows. I am walking the line between crafty and fashion. Trying to bridge the gap with accessories that are both unique and me yet useful.
My new thing that I LOVE to make is these pincushion rings inspired by coral and anemones.

I'm also doing these knitted cord necklaces which I had been wanting to do for myself for years but now I figured I would just do them for the craft shows as well. I know there are some other people out there doing something similar from t-shirts and such but these are knitted and with embellishments such as my Kanzashi flowers, freshwater pearls and Swavorski crystals.
My Next upcoming event is this Saturday where I will be selling at Independents Day in Downtown Columbus.
It has been really interesting experiance for me as the Group I am with "The Crafty Cotillion" trusted me enough to spearhead the Organization of Craft Alley. I feel awesome that they trust me to do it but also flustered because it is a lot of work. I tried to delegate some things but then I ended up being able to figure it out or do a lot of it myself. Definately and experiance and I think if I didn't have so many other things going on I would be happy to do it again.

P.S. We're Engaged!
Yup About two weeks ago my lovely boyfriend Andrew and I got engaged! You can read the whole story here at my wedding blog "To Muse on Wedding" So that has been the biggest reason why the posts have slowed down. Also because I am a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding this Cotocber and the Maid of Honor for my best friend Hyemi's wedding. My own Expected date isn't for another year so I relatively have a lot of time still.
Several things important about the wedding are that we are trying to make it as wasteless as possible. Meaning nothing that is a stupid one time use or that can't be used to decorate our house with after the fact. So no cute flowers whatsoever. We can do planted orchids, air plants and succulents there is a mass array of other options. Colors are Dark Brown, Gold and some shades of Green. I'm looking for an art deco look with some cute under the sea representation; anemones, ocotopi, squids, coral etc etc.
The big endeavors sewing wise are going to be my reception dress and my wedding dress. My fantastic friend Larissa from Wilde Hunt Corsetry is going to be working with me to make a corset for the day. Which means no other corset apparatus underneath so I need to make or at least design my own dress. So followers you will for sure be getting updates on that as it happens.
Enough of that more of the RING! It is by Verragio and I love it!
