Tabio Socks

I finally got my brown paper package from the UK.
My Tabio socks!

I like their postage it's very graphic and simple.

 2 pairs of toe socks
2 pairs of half socks
1 pair of ruffled ankle footie sock

I love the way these look but it takes a little bit to get used to feeling of each toe being separated.  It also weirds me out a little to see my feet and for a split second think they are my hands.

The half sock as an accessory over other socks is an idea to spice it up.

The half sock alone works well to protect heels in new pumps without giving you the weird toe bulk.  They are also handy to wear for sandals to protect your heel or make it a little more of snug fit. I like to wear them with flip flops when I am working in the cold basement to give my feet a little warmth but allowing my toes to be free.

Lastly the ruffled ankle footie is fun to wear alone as a house sock or with some flat ballet slipper type shoes.  It was a good sock to wear with my ankle boots because it protected the sole of my foot while allowing my tops to still breath in the boot and showing off the ruffles on top for a pop of color.

Overall I am very satisfied with my Tabio order.  Yes the socks are more expensive but the quality of them is far superior to any other socks I've looked at or tried.  I also live in a no shoes indoor household so it's nice to still see something pretty and fashionable on your feet when when you are relaxing.  I was surprised thinking the sock might even be too big for me since they are mostly one size fits all.  Instead they were a great fit and with the material they allow for a lot of stretch for larger feet as well.  I would say if you are willing to drop some serious money the shipping is nothing. These socks were well worth it to me and I look forward to making future orders of their other lines.

The Myth of Socks and Heels -Part Deux

Soooo remember a while ago I promised you a little experiment with the knee high socks and open toe shoe look right here?

On a not so wintry and icy day I took out a pair of perfect fitting simple black open toe platforms and paired them with some wonderfully warm and slightly thicker pair of knee high silver socks.  It was a mess. An annoying sock yanking mess.  Thank goodness my day job is easy and low stress or I might of had a fit. After only an hour in workplace my over the knee practically thigh-high (because I am so short) socks were already below my knees and making their way lower. ~ultra sad face~

If the mess of pulling up my socks constantly wasn't enough there was also the slipping, sliding and pinching of my feet.  I don't know how these people pretend that it's comfortable to walk around like this.  Perhaps it's all just impractical photo magic where they only wear it for the photo then immediately change into their more comfy and practical Adidas or Onitsuka Tiger's.
Here is very plain evidence why my day was a total pain.  The socks made the insole slippery and so my feet kept jamming my toes up and out of the open toe in a painful way.  I was afraid that it was going to actually stretch out the open toe portion and distort it so after only half a day I changed into some much more sensible flat knee black boots.  The slipping also made it uncomfortable on my arches since it was causing me to slip a good half inch forward.

This all only concludes further that even though it may look cute, it is completely impractical to wear socks of any kind with open toe shoes.  Knee high socks that constantly fall down on top of open toed shoes is like a swift kick to your gut of comfort when you were already down for the count.

If you are curious those socks are from Banana Republic and the Shoes are from H&M

The Myth of Socks and Heels

Photo from Song of Style

The Trend that I have seen gaining regular popularity is wearing socks especially knee highs with open toe heels. I say it is a Myth that they go together. First of all Knee high socks that stay up? If you have ever tried to wear Knee High socks and they stayed above your knees the entire day you are either
A. Freak of Nature
B. Have found some golden pair of knee highs and you must share the Brand with me.

Also trying to wear socks with an open toe heel is just not comfortable.  Open toe heels are made with a sole meant for slim tights (or as I say thin so that your feet can sweat and stick to them) or just barefoot.  Whenever I have worn socks with an open toe heel (which is not very often since it is uncomfortable) my feet keep sliding, slipping and pinching in new wrong and painful places.  It might look cute and pretty but there are problems walking as opposed to standing.

Both pictures are from Sea of Shoes

The top sandal looks super cute you can see ever so slightly how the slippage is leaving her some gap at the heel.  It is much more evident in this photo direcly above in her Mohawk Prada Shoes.  If you went to a store and tried on shoes and had that much of a gap in the heel you would say they don't fit and wouldn't buy them, correct? So why would you intentially want to make your shoe ill fit and uncomfortable?

The only decent Solution I can think of was well worn in this OTD from Camilla.  Suspender like contraption to keep the knee highs up.  It's on my list of things to make for myself.  Of course they might just be those clips that you find for kids so that they don't lose their gloves and they stay connected to their jacket sleeves.

Just to show you this Myth is true I have the perfect OTD to show you my personal experiment with it.
