OTD - SLUT UP!

So I don't get to dress up to go clubbing very often anymore.  My good Friend Arnell was having his huge birthday bash and I heard they were going to this new club/bar called Double Happiness.  Little did I know it was completely rented out by our crew so I didn't need to go so overboard.  C'est La Vie!
My Slut Up bitchy picture for the night.

Just having a little too much fun with the remote for my DSLR.
Necklace is Geeky Cat by Kuma Crafts on Etsy
You can also see the eye make up the best on this photo.

Outfit Details
Dress UO - Super Sale got it for $7.00
Wide 3 strap Cinch Belt Target
Rhinestone Silver Hoop Earrings from Express
Silver sandals - Michael by Michael Kors
Tokidoki "I Love LA" bullet Watch
Military Jacket from Express
Yep that's all.... I really love the remote for my camera.  I also like making stupid faces.  I'm probably going to start putting them in instead of editing them all out from now on, because that is just me and my personality!
Cheers!

Business Class

Just a casual outfit I wore to work.  I'm really into wearing blazers to make my outfits a little more work appropriate, it also keeps me warm in the blasting A/C.

Grey knit Balzer from Zara Chicago
Dark Grey summer maxi dress from Garden Ridge (Yes, Garden ridge it costs me $8.00)
Black Stretch knot Belt from UO
"We're all Mad Here" necklace from Untamed Menagerie on Etsy
Christian Dior Bow earrings from my Best Friend
Dr. Scholl's Silver slide Sandals

I finished one of my toy knitting projects for a friend.  It is Sack Boy from Little Big Planet.  He'd been in the "to finish" pile for a good year and finally I just pieced him up and made his little belly pillow for stuffing.  Usually on this pattern you use glue to keep the zipper closed and then stuff it but this time I wanted the zipper to be functional so you can hide things inside or put a lavender satchel inside.

Getting this done has forced me to look through my pile of unfinished items and I need to get through them before the end of summer.  I just want a clean work area and slate before I start on the next dress for the wedding. I just got in all my goodies from Korea that my best friend sent and I can't wait to start on the reception dress!  It's going to be traditional hanbok colors but short dress and less stiff silk.  I have a lot of work ahead of me this month.

I also start teaching for College Preview next week which means I am working 4 different jobs on top of  all the wedding mess.  Expect short and sporadic updates for bit.

Another Chicago Day

Chicago's weather threw me for a loop (ha ha get it? Chicago, Loop).  Anyways I thought it would be toasty hot there but turned out to be quite chilly.  Luckily I over packed and so I wore layers upon layers to keep my wee self warm.  On my way to Chicago I actually turned back about 15 minutes onto the highway to go back and get this Navy Cardigan and am I ever glad I did!

This is what I was initially going to wear then I walked outside.
And then I came back in and put on some pants.
Navy Cardigan from Anthropologie
Knot Heart belt from UO
RVCA Storm dress from Karmaloop
Grey American Apparel tank dress
Express Re-Rock Bootcut jeans
Sam Edelman gladiator Sandals
Turquoise stone ring from Anthropologie
Strawberry (Ichigo) Head necklace from Hazel by Haoshi

My Friend took me to some of her favorite spots in Chicago such as this Cereal Bar/Seafood restaurant.

Then to the Margie's Candies

My one request for this trip was to hit Kuma Corner!

A most delicious burger as big as my face!
I got the "Lair of the Minotaur"
Caramelized Onions, Pancetta, Brie, Bourbon Soaked Pears

Stripey Drapes

I love winter but this is going on a bit too long.  I am having to get more and  more inventive with my layering that I can wear something besides sweaters.  I'll be darn glad when I can wear skirts without leggings or stockings.  Currently it is just too cold when we were in the single digits.

Pulling out some of my favorite shirts I'm forcing myself to wear them in some way shape or form.  This idea came about from wearing my Gaultier Dress the other week.  It's a good exercise in styling and being creative. Some days it works some days it doesn't but that's how you learn what looks good on you.  I have this crazy shopping routine where I try on anything that even slightly peeks my interest in colors, cut, style.  I even try on things that I think are hideous. This way I can either confirm or surprise myself.  You never know what clothes looks like until you put it on.  When I was in retail I loved being in the fitting rooms and personal shopping because then I could do the same thing to other people and usually they were pleasantly surprised that they could pull off outfits out of their norm.

Black mock turtle neck - Express
Shark toothed drape stripe shirt - Express
Black Lace Skirt - UO
Grey ribbed tights - American apparel
Grey slouch fringe boots - Steve Madden

OTD 1.10.2011 - Greys and Neon Orange

Look at me!  In a matter of days My photos have already improved vastly!  I'm so happy because nothing is more embarassing then really terrible photo attempts on a blog.  People read blogs they want to see pretty new and interesting not blurry tired and tried to hard.

There are several awesome things in this photo which is why I had to pust this first.
1. My new Victorian Chaise from Mary Catherine's
2. My furry woodland cat Sir Benjamin Franklin
3. These poloroid type Prints from Clinton Reno (another Local Artist)

Now onto the outfit
Grey turtle neck Dress from American Apparel
Neon Orange Tunic Sweater from Urban Oufitters Sale
Neon Orange Tights- Express Sale
Grey Suede Fringe boots from Steve Madden (years ago)
Snide Smirk - my own creation

People sometimes find my hair fascinating, I like to find it out of my way.  When it is wet I simply put in a dolop of mouse and twist up the end, bump it forward a little bit and then clip it with a tiny claw

This is very minimal makeup.  Just some brow gel for shape, and liquid liner for a little cat eye swoop.
Lately I've been using the TokiDoki liquid Liner from Sephora

Anarchy Street - Store Review

I mean to do this really spiffy OTD post but all I could muster was a picture of my boot.  They are riding boots from Steve Madden about 2 years old but they have lasted me well.  The rest of what I am wearing is pretty classy except for my sickly face...... I can't stop sneezing and my head feels as foggy as the weather entering Hogwarts.
The rest of the outfit included black skinny jeans, nude cami underneath a sheer white silk blouse tunic recently bought, and my Billy Would necklace which I did manage to take a photo of also.

Since you can only imagine let me tell you about an online store that I tried for the first time Anarchy Street which is where I got my wonderful blouse.

It was one of my goals this year is to branch out and go to other online stores besides UO and affiliates.  I had been coveting some things from Anarchy Street and finally I just pulled the trigger.  The prices are reasonable and the quality of garment is comparable to what you are paying for.  It's not top of the line but it's not shabby either.  I would say the quality is better then UO but not up to Madewell.  I'm happy with my purchase though.

Pro: Great pricing, trend merchandise but no trendy, easy to navigate store, Pay Pal Friendly, Limited Merchandise for originaltiy

Cons: No tracking, shipping took full 10 days (stated it would take 7-10 days), Limited Merchandise not so many choices.

All in all I will order from them, I was very satisfied and I like to know no one else around my neck of the woods will have this shirt, especially since it is now sold out.

OTD restart

Regretfully I still do not have a new shiny camera....... I'm hoping with the upcoming holidays it might be one of my gifts or at least money towards one.  I'm going to try the "Outfit of the Days" again but broken down since I can't seem to manage to take a proper photo of myself from head to toe.

I wore this Cape into work from VOODOO Denim Lounge

My Pink Baby-G Square face Watch with my Green Ipod Nano gen 5 in tow

Steve Madden Suede leather slouchy Fringe Boots (no I do not normally put my feet up, it is actually uncomfortable with how short my legs are)

Lastly some bling, Rectangular Crystal Ring from Byzantium (RIP) and pearl collar necklace wrapped around as a bracelet from Urban Outfitters.

For the rest of my body I was wearing a turtle neck one piece knit dress in a dark brown.

Candy Kisses and Birthday Wishes

This is my obligatory selfish post about what I want for my Birthday.  There are things that you want, need and would like to have.  Mine is mostly what I view as needs, since they have to do with me producing better and more clothes in general or at least faster I hope!   Hopefully I get my tax return check before then so I can present myself with some of these things.

I do this thing that is pretty simple and nondescript of making wishlists at all the places I like to shop such as
Think Geek
Anthropologie
Amazon
Urban Outfitters
Nordstrom's
Etsy

All of the above however (minus Amazon) are just wants.  My needs are books, sewing supplies, art supplies and a good SLR Camera.  Oh and some cute looking but good headphones for work while wandering the stacks.  Something that does not go directly into my ear because I seem to frighten myself and other people alot when I can't hear anything else.
From Strapya

My selection of books can be easily be found on my Amazon wishlist as well as some sewing supplies.  But I've posted a few below to save you the anxiety of looking through my long lists.

Next are Sewing Supplies.  I need another smaller serger that I can travel with to my classes in a bind.  I'm thinking Juki or Brother.  Most likely Juki but the Babylock also calls to me with it's patented airflow threading system which would be a DREAM.  Unfortunately I do not think that the machine is small enough to accomadate travel, also the jostling around in my car could be very bad for the lovely airflow system.
I'd also really like the Brother PED program to design my own embroideries and get new designs.

Lastly a gathering foot would be a nice addition to my foot collection.  I talk about it a lot in my CCAD CE class so I feel that I really need one.

Art Supplies.  I really really want to get back into some more classical art practices like oil painting again.  I have no oil paints and majority of my good brushes are missing/gone.  One thing I didn't have before that I would love to have is a nice wooden easel.  This table top one would be great so I can transport it from my upstairs to the basement drafting table and it would be compact also.   It's not like I would ever stand and paint.

Now for the one thing I really feel I NEED is a digital SLR camera.  I know I want a Nikon and most affordable one is a D40.  This is something I think I can get on my own with my tax return but a little help never harmed anyone.

Just to make this fun I posted some things that I want but don't particularly need!
Like this Piggy Bank! from Strapya

Microbes that I don't have which are on my wish list at Think Geek
Lastly I would be kind of great to finally get Final Fantasy 13 with the Guide Book.  And as always finish out my Ranma 1/2 DVD's and get the Second GTO box Set.
