Friday I'm in love

I have seen this movie twice now. It was just that Good. I am a huge Tarantino Fan and this was one of his best movies ever. I'm still very partial to "From dusk till dawn" but this has introduced me to a new celebrity crush, and let me tell you I have very few celebrity crushes.

This new Crush if you can't recognize him is Eli Roth, not only is he a fine looking gentleman but he also has a dark disgusting side (horror films) which I can really get behind. For those who may not know me well, I LOVE to watch horror/scary movies. I especially love Foreign scary movies. I also have this odd obsession with zombies. The first thing I always do when I go someplace new is think about my best escape root from zombies. Sometime I even knock on walls a little bit to see if they are slat board or just drywall. I pay attention to ceiling vents, possible places a zombie could wriggle through and take stock of the nearest weapons and food stores. It is a little bit terrible.

I am looking forward to the new movie Zombieland.

In all Honesty

I've been depressed.

To try and combat this I have been extremely busy running errands applying to contests and gearing up for Teaching and finding a job. I did in fact find a job..... Part time at an Express. I know it's not really me but basics are always good there and I can't complain about the discount. It is only part time so it's not like I am selling my soul to the retail industry. It does put a huge kink in my project that I have been wanting to launch so I might have to hold off another year or so. We shall see how I can wriggle my opinionated clothing options into their guidelines.

As for contests I submitted this week for the "Aspiring Designer Contest" at Substance. Substance is this cute store with a large space in the Short North that is eco-conscious. They have high quality cottons and basics which in store they alter with embellishments to match whatever you desire. The have samples up so you can see the endless possibilities and a wide selection of trims and notions to play with or to give their in-staff seamstress to make. It is an extremely unique Idea and I hope them all the best.

I've also been slowing still working on my 100 C's project on my knitting machine for the OAL. And the Tiny Canary Craft Application is now up!

Also I made a bunch of new Cat's Bane yarn guards and 4 new shirts to put out this weekend at Undone for Gallery Hop. I'm hoping at the craft fairs my Cat's bane will do well otherwise it's all bubble scarves and fingerless gloves and arm-warmers again........ I think I might borrow my brother's credit card Machine to use as well. I for sure don't have the funds to invest in getting my own.

I'm all stewing up my designs for the Halloween Highball. I have my theme and inspirations it's just me getting to work on them now.

Sauntering to the Finish

Unfortunately until I find my gorilla tripod half body shots are all you are getting for a bit. My full sized tripod is annoying and so is my camera. I can't wait to get a digital SLR.

I have an interview this week for a part time gig at Macy's. The reality kids is that it is VERY difficult to be an independent designer with no financial backing. Everything is paid by the piece and usually I don't make any money back because they are so extravagant they can't be sold. Also I live in Ohio........ not exactly the best fashion market. It is improving with all the boutiques but still a long shot from Chicago or NYC or even LA.

The necklace below is what I had been waiting to get in Chicago since I could not find it anywhere here in Ohio. It is from forever 21 and it was recently previewed in Lucky magazine. It was the last one left and one of the strands was broken. At first the register was going to give me a discount and then she snapped off the broken pearl and tried to fix it. Not giving me any discount and entirely offsetting the necklace. I was pissed but what can you do when it is already dirt cheap at $12.80. As soon as I came home I promptly took this out of my suitcase and fixed it properly. I had swiped the broken pearl piece from the counter before she swept it off.

I've also found my perfect Lady Vengeance eyeshadow! I'd been on the hunt for something just right since I saw the movie years ago. Most of the reds are too tame and don't give that great pop but now that MAC has "Brash and Bold" I can complete this. I wore it very tamed down in my first photo mixed in with "Milk" to the right. I know a lot of good MUA's will snuff their heads to MAC but I have a loyalty to them and I've used them long enough before and after the change of company hands to know what works for me. It is a little silly how much more work it takes to get things right but I just deal with it. Plus for the money it still is cheaper then what I would really want to play with. There is a newish makeup line I have been drying to try by "Doe Deere". She has these amazingly playful pigments, glitter and now coming out Lipstick line. She is one of the few bloggers that I check on everyday.

Outside the Castle

CIMG4512, originally uploaded by tornangel012.

With the passing events of this weekend I feel the need to change up my blog a bit. This will no longer be strictly a dedication to fashion.

It is moving forward a full focus on my Aesthetic as torn angel as my persona not just clothing and art and feel good things.

Torn Angel is a bit tormented actually by everything going on around her and thinking perhaps too deeply about life.

The photo above is from a Chicago exhibit at the Science and Industry Museum. It is the outside gate of the Fairytale castle by Coleen Moore. I felt it appropriate in several tones. First it was from my weekend in Chicago. Second i enjoyed this gorgeous gem by myself. Thirdly as beautiful as it was it was completely empty of life.

Even though I was at the museum with several people the time I enjoyed the most was by myself. Being alone to witness extraordinary things is much more meaningful to me. It is like a secret that you never tell but can always have the feeling with you as you remember. There is a certain awe and wonder looking at all the delicate treasures in museums and knowing they have survived the ages or been produced so painstakingly and lovingly by the artist. It is a hard thing for me to want to share that with anyone. There are some pieces that stir such a feeling that my eyes well up with emotion.

Some would say I am too sensitive but I think that sensitivity and compassion are muscles less flexed by most people. Which is a large part why I had such an ordeal this weekend.

Jumping out of Summer

CIMG4346, originally uploaded by tornangel012.

This is a terrible picture of me wearing a jumpsuit my roommate from college got me in Korea. I apparently lost weight so this fits me much better then it did last year. It is just another bad picture.

The trunk show was slow last night. At least I had a lot of friends show up for awhile to keep me company. It was really good to at least see the support that I have. I sold two shirts so it was not a loss and I am going to keep my stuff in the store. I think that Gallery hop will do really well.

Tomorrow I will post the entire look book from the show.
Today is recovery and video games with movies in the evening.

Craftin Outlaws

I made it!
I was a bit hesitant since I didn't know my schedule or what was going on with the rest of my life but it's ok and I'm happy to have yet another opportunity to sell my wares. They were unsure about having me but I think they will see that I can hold my own and I will do alright. I only bring a clothes rack of things to show but what I really sell is my knitwear and scarves.

All the photos from the Lingerie Photo shoot came in today! As I type my photoshop is angrily uploading them all so I can see the full potential and do the cropping. It is so hard to decide what images to put into my look book because so many of them are amazing!
